Born in the Downriver suburbs of Detroit, actress and singer Valerie Meachum grew up an Air Force brat, logging fifteen addresses by age twelve. She taught herself to read at three and was identified early as an academically gifted child. Dance, music and drama presented the challenges missing in her regular schoolwork, and by her teens she was determined to pursue a performing career. She made her professional theatre debut as Sarah in Female Transport during a semester break from college, and has pursued her dream through all the ups and downs since.

She made her movie debut as the heroic Dr. Tami Bark in the Japanese-style monster feature Raki II: Raki vs. Nemesis, which has been featured at G-Fest, the leading American festival celebrating the kaijugenre. Recently she has kept busy in front of the camera with a variety of roles for up-and-coming Chicago filmmakers, and is looking forward to the release of the thriller feature Cyrus: Mind of a Serial Killer, in which she is featured alongside Patricia Belcher.

Valerie's stage career has ranged from children's theatre to Shakespeare to musicals to new plays, both acting and behind the scenes as a director, costume designer and fight choreographer. The Biography of Anika T. McClure

Ms. Anika T. McClure is multi-talented in many areas including, mass media, video & ﬁlm, radio

broadcasting, business management, photography, graphics arts, modeling, and fashion.

Beginning her journey in 1986 into this world, even she would be amazed at all the possibilities she

would turn into reality and accomplishments.

Beginning to follow dreams in the ﬁeld of medicine, Anika’s interest in the arts sparked when she

participated in the Spiral Workshop program at the University of Illinois in 2003. She was able to

display her talents through her work and this was when she had an idea that something was there

for her to begin to ﬂourish and possibly to make into a career. Still going against her passion for

art, Anika was accepted into Chicago State University in 2004 and begin her journey in the pre-

medicine program. In 2005, she decided to switch majors over to Communications, and restarted

her journey in the arts.

Anika is a graduate from Chicago State University, Class of 2008, and has received the

Baccalaureate degree of Arts in Communications. She was heavily involved in academics as well

as campus life. She was a member of the National Dean’s List, received the Merit Award from

2007-2009 for the outstanding work as an undergraduate student in her communications

department, worked in the National Black Theatre Festival, executive board member of NAACP,

member of CSU Media Group and CSU Student Life, a model in Allure Models Group, and was

crowned Chicago State University 2008 Homecoming Queen. She is now a current member of the

Chicago Teachers College/Chicago State University Alumni Association.

In 2008, Anika came up with the idea to start a production company, Fusion Chilled Productions,

which did not move too far in the right direction, but stood at a stand-still. Still building a fan-base

and working on productions and live shows, Anika knew it was time for a change in the aid of a

better investment for the company. In the beginning of 2009, Anika changed the name of the

company to Pink Fusion Entertainment and continued to produce live shows. Pink Fusion

Entertainment is her stepping stone and she has grown the company into what it is today.

With mixing her knowledge in production and her modeling experience, her biggest show, which

was her ﬁrst fashion show “ConGLAMOURate: The Fashion Affair” debuted in 2009 was her major

success story. With teaming up with several designers and models, and having many in

attendance, this was the event that marked history for Anika and for Pink Fusion Entertainment.

Anika has worked on ﬁlm projects with many companies including Royal Caribbean, and has

produced many live and ﬁlm and video productions as a college student and after graduating. She

enjoys print modeling and runway work and training runway models. She also enjoys writing in her

leisure time and looks forward to the future in producing her own literary works.

As she continues to work to fulﬁll all of her dreams in life, two of her most recent project she is

working on are “Pandemonium: A Fashion Affair” in September 2010, and a launch event for her

clothing line “Modernaire Clothing Company”, which will debut in early spring 2011.

Liz Toussaint alone, is a walking party, has Louisiana running through her veins, and a voice as big as Texas! Add that with talented band members and you’re guaranteed a good time!

Toussaint was born and raised in the inner city of Chicago. Listening to country music was her little secret, as it was not common in the Englewood area....(and urban communities alike.). Her passion for music lead her to singing with soulful girl groups in her teen years, but as a solo artist she decided to no longer ignore the music she loved. “She is the real deal” says Kenneth Wright (Nashville writer/Tim McGraw). Toussaint has written, arranged and produced her current project titled “My name is Liz”. Currently traveling to Nashville for writing session on music row and studying at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, Liz is dedicated to her craft and destined to be the next groundbreaking artist from Illinois.

After opening for Comedian Cedric the Entertainer to a standing ovation, Liz is quickly gaining a reputation for being a hard act to follow. She comes from a bloodline of great talent as she is related to Allen Toussaint who has written, arranged, produced and played piano for many of the best New Orleans R&B records ever made. Mr. Toussaint said: “I think what you are doing is Grand”.

As the only black female country artist from Chicago, Liz is without question a rarity. Her witty personality comes alive on stage as she gives her audience a peek into her life as an inner city teen, uncharacteristically listening to country music. The Chicago Tribune found her story to be so interesting, they published a full page on her life in June of 2009 titled “City Born, Country Drawn”.

Toussaint continues to work on major developments with her project, while traveling and performing throughout the U.S.

Darryl Leroy Harper Jr., better known by his stage name Deeder tha H.G./Deeder tha Hood Great born to parents Darryl Harper Sr. and Regena Meals on August 5th 1987 Being the oldest of 5, Deeder coped with a lot of responsibility and hardships at a young age. Constantly changing residence along with his father in and out of their lives, his mother provided for him and his younger siblings with limited resources and no outside support. At this point in his life, Deeder felt it was time to make his transition from a boy to a MAN.

Maintaining his marks in school by staying enrolled in honors half his school career trouble followed him like a shadow. Gang fights, felonies and fast living all became stellar elements of his young life. Deeder’s motto was "Fuck It, If One Fall, We All Fall." The industry has been waiting for something Official and this specific art ist officially reveals the truth behind Soul Music. Ben Ojei (born July 02, 1987) better known by his stage name Ben Official is an up and coming Chicago musician, striving to become a legendary neo-soul singer. A distinguished artist, Ben Official is dedicated to his music career. Ben is not only an extremely talented singer; he also excels in song writing, playing the piano, and composes and produces his own music.

Born in Nigeria, at the age of 5 his family decided to move to the Unit ed States. After his arrival, Ben discovered his new love for neo-soul music. Inspired by artists such as Toni Tony Tone and D’angelo, at the age of sixteen, Official began developing his skills of playing the piano “by ear,” and found his voice in soul and gospel. Having performed in various churches, he began to gain a new sense of his most valuable instrument: his voice. Official practiced whenever he had the chance to experiment with different techniques. He says, “Although I was raised Cath olic, I loved the atmosphere of a Baptist church. The soul and struggle that I heard in Old Negro Spirituals enlightened me to a new genre of vocal us age. I connected more to that soulful sound and eventually made it my own.”

A resident of Chicago since the age of 7, Ben says, “Chicago gave me a new un derstanding with artists such as Dave Hollister, Black Street, Carl Thomas and Bri an McKnight. I found these voices quite different but highly interesting in their riffs and runs. It was my first introduction to gospel voices on R&B tracks/beats. I then found R&B Soul.” Around the age of 17, Ben decided to take his music and performanc es to the next level.

With unique vocals, best described as silky yet raspy, Ben often finds himself be ing compared to a blend ofJamie Foxx, Carl Thomas and John Legend. Ben Official has performed at various large-scale venues in the city of Chica go and throughout the U.S. during a 6 city tour. 

Currently, Ben is working on a new project as he plans for a Album/Mix tape release in the summer of 2010. Highly anticipated songs such as "Round and Round" and "Glamorous Girl" will be featured on the "R&B V.S. Neo-Soul" Mix tape.

“Architect of Chicago’s hip hop’s renaissance”

Bo Beniz has a flow so ice cold that he’d undoubtedly freeze—if he wasn’t already the coldest. This

explains why he’s dressed for arctic verbal war, not bothering to remove his navy blue pea coat, black

hoodie and skull cap before stepping inside the recording booth to lay down adlibs for his track, “Easy,”

for his forthcoming album. On the chorus, he taunts competitors with, “This is waaaaaay to EASY!” and

from the outside looking in, it appears to be just that.

All the makings for success fall in line like a great game of chess for this 26-year-old artist on a mission

to change and takeover the rap game simultaneously. Peep the credentials: Charm and charisma like LL?

Check. Swagger like Diddy? Check. Business savvy like Jay-Z? Check. Been shot up like 50? Check. A

flow like no other in the game? Checkmate. “All I know is, I do me and you can’t not like me. I’m me,”

he chuckles with a presidential, mega-watt grin. “Bo Beniz is great!”

Today, Bo Beniz, born Boaz McGee, is uber confident about his rap skills, but this hasn’t always been the

case. He remembers growing up a fan of hip hop, writing original rhymes as early as sixth grade and

idolizing the southern style of Cash Money and Outkast, but he didn’t begin to take himself and a career

in music seriously until he was 16. “I realize that’s when I fell in love. Ever since then I couldn’t stop,” he

recalls.

Entering the industry as one-half of the Harvey Allbangers produced duo, Bo & Logik, Bo Beniz has

come a long way from his early days of performing. “I was nervous as all get out,” he shares about his

first live performance in 2002 with rap partner Logik, “but something in my mind told me I was the best

and I still feel that way to this day,” he says laughing. Bo & Logik performed at Chicago’s legendary

House of Blues five times and is the only independent hip hop act to headline. Their debut mixtape,

Finally, received spins from Chicago’s top radio stations and DJs and spawned crowd favorites such as

“Sweet Home Chicago” and “Show Her the World.” Getting House of Blues was a dream fulfilled and

now as a solo artist, managed by music industry veteran and owner of The Music Experience, Dedry

Jones, Bo Beniz is right on track to realize his dream of putting other Chicago artists on the map.

As CEO of GO Sity Entertainment, Bo Beniz is committed to giving Chicago artists a chance to shine. In

March 2009, Bo Beniz and GO Sity Entertainment produced The Chicago Hip Hop Classic, a concert and

music symposium featuring only Chicago talent. “Chicago is long overdue for a breakthrough in hip hop

music, where the entire music community embraces and recognizes local talent,” says Bo Beniz about the

inspiration for creating The Chicago Hip Hop Classic. In addition to having the support of music lovers,

industry executives and local businesses, The Classic even caught the attention of established hip-hop

notables like Grammy Award-winning artist Rhymefest, who opened the show.

Since July 2008, The GO Sity produced Crowd Control Concert Series has been featuring many of

Chicago’s underground and independent hip hop acts. The series, which takes place the third Saturday of

the month in the heart of Bronzeville at the Spoken Word Cafe, is half open mic and half feature acts,

showcasing local talent like Jak Frost, Twone Gabz, Co-Still and GO Sity Entertainment artist, Polie Da

Great. Winners of the Apollo-style open mic pre-show win recording time and a large trophy, a coveted

prize for many of the young performers who have never won anything in their lives.

Growing up on Chicago’s South Side—the “low end” near 47th & King Drive where he holds his popular

event—Bo Beniz knows exactly what it feels like to long for winning in life. “I was what they call a

disadvantaged youth,” says Bo. As a young man, he associated himself with the bad boys and hustling

didn’t only describe his drive, but his way of living and making money. In 1998, the realities of life

caught up with him when he was shot nine times at close range (in what he found out years later was a

case of mistaken identity). The bullet wounds are still visible in various places throughout his body,

including a near fatal blow barely missing his heart, but unlike most rappers, he doesn’t wear his scars

with vain pride. “I don’t feel extra gangsta because I got shot up. I kind of feel like a victim,” he shares.

“It didn’t make me a super thug because I got shot. It made me realize that [lifestyle] wasn’t the way to go

and I’ve got some different things to do and pursue.”

Through his GO Sity for Youth after school program, Bo Beniz shares this wisdom with youth to

hopefully turn their minds around and inspire them. “I come from where they come from—the low end.

They see I’m still in the area, but my situation has changed totally.” The students in his program learn

about various aspects of the music industry, along with some real-talk life lessons. When he’s not focused

on challenging his artists and students to be better, he’s focused on challenging himself.

Bo Beniz is the architect of Chicago’s hip hop renaissance, building opportunities for Chicago talent to do

what they love and be recognized at home…and the world. “Jay-Z is my motivation,” says Bo.” He’s

doing it so big and setting the bar so high, but eventually, somebody gotta come and shut him down. I

want to be him. Not Jay-Z; the guy who shuts him down.”

There’s no doubt that Bo Beniz is just that guy. From dealing illegal business to the masses, to delivering

lyrical dopamine to move the masses, Bo Beniz knows exactly how to give the people what they crave.

“I’m slowly but surely realizing I can fly and I’ll be that guy soon.”

Have you ever met someone with a literal addiction to singing? An individual who randomly sings morning, noon, and night? Chicago native, Erica Terry, definitely fits that profile. The 19- year-old songstress, has been entertaining audiences since her toddler days. From churches to theaters, she has openly shared her gift with an array of people; yet, singing has never felt like a chore for the budding artist. Instead, she refers to it as a place of comfort. It is both a stress reliever and a gift of entertainment wrapped in one. A saying near and dear to Erica's heart is "If you love what you do, you'll never have to work a day in your life." Therefore, every note she sings and every ear she pleases is purely for the love of the art.

Currently Erica is a member of LBC Gospel Choir and her church's youth choir. She has also won quite a few awards for her musical ability. In 2005 she was awarded first place from the "Illinois Beta Convention- Talent Competition." In 2009 she won first place for University of Missouri- Columbia "Take the Stage" competition, and she ranked Top 15 in Mizzou Idol. With great talent, comes great inspiration. Jannelle White; is a 2004 alumna of Chicago State University with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences Degree. She majored in Television and Radio Production with a minor in Public Relations. In May 2007, Jannelle graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a Master of Arts Management Degree. There she majored in Arts Entertainment and Media Management with a concentration in Media. She has over 8 years of Television Production experience.

Chicago State University (CSU) currently employs Jannelle as a lecturer in the Communications, Media Arts and Theatre department (CMAT). She teaches basic studio and filed production, along with graphic and web design courses. She is able to demonstrate the studio control room crew positions and floor positions for CSU students. We have a weekly studio production of “CSU TV”. Concurrently, Jannelle has been an Operations Coordinator for 8 years at Chicago Access Corporation (CAN TV). Some of her responsibilities at CAN TV include but are not limited to studio production, field production, facilities management and teaching

They say diamonds is a girl best friend but with the help of Miss Bling diamonds have become a unisex fashion statement. From Blinged cups to flashy but classy gym shoes Miss bling, which is also known as “Da Bling Diva” can turn anything from plain to Blingtastic! It started out as a hobby something for her to do to pass time, but also a way for her to stay unique and stylish. Also, as seen on much television shows and on thousands of myspace pages Bishop Don Magic Juan and the rap legend Snoop Dogg also owns a pair of Miss Bling’s custom Stunnas named the “Don Juan Stunnas”. With pure determination she made a gift package for the One and Only Beyonce that included sunglasses that spelled the superstars name across the front of them. The gift was hand delivered to the Diva at a party right after the star’s concert in Chicago. Da Blingy Diva sponsored the Chicago battleground 06’ by blinging out 70 mini brandy bling glasses and a exotic Blingy Glass for the winner in two days! Miss bling is her own publicist. Since a young boy, Rookie always showed that he had a creative side as well as a business side. In 6th grade following the popularity of, "The Simpson's" TV show, Rookie drew headshots of the cast and sold them to classmates at a dollar a pop.

The Boring Sentimental Facts

Born and raised on Chicago 's south side, Rookie serves as the Founder and Chief Director of Rookie TV and Rookie Films Corporation. At the age of 16, Rookie took the family's home video camera and began shooting a series of skits with his cousin, Big DAVE under the name of Rookie TV. De La Salle High School served as the backdrop where he met with David, “Big DAVE” Watson, and Christopher “C-DUB” Jordan and began to foster the relationships that would eventually help Rookie TV to materialize. Rookie later met with C-DUB in art class and the two bonded through the competitive nature of creating artwork to represent themselves and their school.

After High School, Rookie obtained a scholarship to the University of Missouri Kansas City where he majored in pre med. Though a career in medicine was very attractive, Rookie changed his major to Communications his sophomore year and thus began his formal introduction into the world of production. The projects that Rookie would go on to produce in his production classes entertained his classmates so much that many times his works received a round of applause after each showing. After obtaining his bachelors in communications from UMKC, he figured the best way to continue his career would be film school. “I applied to a few film schools right after I graduated, and got rejected by each and every one of them. I knew then that I had to change my master plan…or at least the means of getting there.”

Rookie TV will Rule the world?

While looking for work in the field of production, Rookie substituted in the Chicago Public Schools and met up with C-DUB one day at a local school where the two taught. After a short meeting the two formulated a plan to produce Rookie TV and they began writing skits together and the rest is history. Skits like “Cart Safety”, “Beaters”, and “Mr. Applebox” are testimonials of how great his eye and heart is for production. Rookie TV is a culmination of all the skills that are possessed by Rookie and his co- workers, only time will tell what will become of the project. One thing is for sure though; the world of media will never be the same.

Torri Griffin is a singer/songwriter based out of Chicago. Torri first came to the public conscience as the voice on the song "My Little Man" from the nationally syndicated Tide commercial. Torri started out singing at a very young age on a live radio broadcast in Chicago. Torri currently does personal vocal training and also teaches choral technique. In an effort to sew into the community where she was raised, after returning home from college, Torri went back to the school that she attended to head the music department for a few years.
